Referral Submission
Referrals can be made by a school, hospital, or the Local Authority. The referral form is available on our website and should be submitted along with any supporting evidence. Parental consent is required for all referrals, including agreement for appropriate information sharing. The referral form includes a section for schools to confirm that consent has been obtained. Referrals from parents or carers cannot be accepted.
Panel Review
Referrals are considered by our panel every Tuesday.
The panel includes:
- • Two TRS senior leaders
- • A Kent Headteacher
- • A multi-agency representative (from CAMHS, ICB, Kent PRU, or the Attendance Service)
Decision and Feedback
Once a decision is made, the TRS Referral Manager will notify the referring school, hospital, or local authority by email.
If the referral is successful, the Inclusion Manager from the allocated provision will then:
- • Contact the family to arrange a visit
- • Confirm a start date, closure date, and timetable
- • Conduct initial assessments to identify any additional support needs
- From the start date:
- • The pupil will be dual registered with TRS and the referring school (which must retain the pupil on roll)
- • The Inclusion Manager and family will maintain regular communication to support a smooth transition
- • A formal review meeting will take place after six weeks, involving the referring school
