The Rosewood School provides an inhouse counselling service to help improve the emotional wellbeing of students. Canterbury (Willow) has 2 counsellors and Leybourne (Woodview) has one, both providing a 4 day a week service.
Students can find help with a variety of challenges and worries by choosing to visit the school’s 15-to-20-minute drop-in service. They can book to see one of the counsellors during the school day by putting a slip in the counselling post-box.
The counsellors also offer weekly sessions, one to one or sometimes in a small group, working closely with parents and school staff.
The school has a dedicated therapeutic room where students can work with their counsellor to talk about any issues and challenges, they are experiencing. As well as offering therapeutic support our counsellors help students to develop lifelong coping skills, increase their self-confidence and enhance their wellbeing and resilience.
In-House Counselling Service
At Rosewood School, we provide an in-house counselling service to support and improve the emotional wellbeing of our students.
Our Canterbury site has two counsellors, while Leybourne has one counsellor. Both sites offer a four-day-a-week counselling service, ensuring that students have access to support during the school week.
How Counselling Can Help
Students can seek support with a variety of challenges, worries and concerns through our 15–20-minute drop-in service. If a student would like to speak with a counsellor during the school day, they can book an appointment by placing a slip in the counselling post-box.
Our counsellors also offer weekly counselling sessions, either on a one-to-one basis or, where appropriate, in a small group. They work closely with parents and school staff to ensure that students receive consistent and supportive care.
If a student is already receiving counselling or therapy from an external service, we are unable to offer additional one-to-one counselling at school alongside this, to help keep their support consistent, avoid overlap, and to ensure we continue to work ethically. However, students are always welcome to access our drop-in support if they need someone to talk to, would like some support during the school day, or simply want a safe space to check in
A Safe and Supportive Space
The school has a dedicated therapeutic room where students can work with their counsellor in a safe, calm and supportive environment. This provides a space for students to talk openly about any issues or challenges they may be experiencing.
Alongside therapeutic support, our counsellors help students to:
- • Develop lifelong coping skills.
- • Build self-confidence and self-esteem.
- • Improve their emotional wellbeing.
- • Develop resilience and positive strategies for managing challenges.
