Our KS3 Curriculum at The Rosewood School
At The Rosewood School, our Key Stage 3 curriculum is designed with purpose: to equip every pupil with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive academically, socially, and personally. We follow a structured approach with clear learning expectations at each stage, allowing us to assess progress, close gaps, and extend learning where potential allows.
Our curriculum balances core academic national curriculum (NC) subjects—Maths, English, Science, Criminology (incorporating elements from the History (NC) programme), Classics (NC - History and Language), Citizenship, Design Technology, Art, Finance, PSHE/RSE, RE (Kent Agreed Syllabus), PE, and ICT—with practical and reintegration-focused learning. Pupils also benefit from discrete reintegration lessons, work experience, outdoor learning (equine facilitated), and guided social interaction opportunities during breaks, lunch, and breakfast club.
Beyond the Classroom is a discrete session where local businesses work with pupils to develop entrepreneurial skills, problem-solving, and real-world applications, preparing them for life beyond school. Every lesson and activity is designed to build knowledge, develop skills, nurture curiosity, and support pupils’ health and wellbeing, helping them to prepare for the wider world and successful reintegration.
